Below is an overview of the graduated return to play.

Step 1

COMPLETE MENTAL & PHYSICAL REST

Avoid physical activity, thinking tasks and screens

​

Guide to time frame at the stage :

24 hours

Step 2

Daily activities that don't cause symptoms

Symptom-guided activities such as walking, jogging or stationary cycling​

14 days

Step 3

LIGHT AEROBIC EXERCISE

Running drills, no impact activities​

2 days

Step 4

LIGHT AEROBIC EXERCISE

Progression to more complex training drills, passing, catching, weight training

24 hours

MEDICAL CLEARANCE

Obtain medical clearance from a doctor.

Only progress to Step 5 if a medical clearance is provided.

Step 5

FULL CONTACT TRAINING

Participate in normal training activities. â€‹

Step 6

SIGN OFF & return to play

If no symptoms develop post full training, player rehabilitated â€‹
